coen Posted March 10, 2009 Report Share Posted March 10, 2009 Cottonwood Task Force Minutes –February 9th, 2009 Call to Order The Cottonwood Task Force Committee of School District No. 2, Yellowstone County and High School District No. 2, Yellowstone County, Montana met at St Johns Lillis Center on Monday, February 9th, 2009. David Trost called the meeting to order at 6:07 pm. Committee members present were: Andrea Chambers, Liane Frieders, Summer Gappa, Lee Gibb, Elizabeth Potter, David Trost and Steven Wieder. Ex-Officio members present were: Kathy Kelker, and Kathy Olson. JGA staff present were John Eisen and Terral Sukut. Others in attendance were Angie Grey, Admin. in Training. David asked if there were any objections to the Agenda. There being none the agenda was approved. David asked if there were any objections to the minutes from the January 26th meeting. There being none the minutes were approved. Public Communication – none present The members went through the proposed power point presentation for the upcoming Community Meeting. Discussion and changes. David assigned who would do the various presentations at this meeting on February 18th at the Will James Middle School cafeteria at 7 pm. The members then discussed and reviewed the task force instructions from the Board. Terrell Suket discussed the various costs and a bit about the task force meetings for Broadwater and McKinley schools. The members discussed the guaranteed tax base and state amount which would be approximately 46 – 48%. The members had a discussion of the design concept. Recap of Community Meeting Presentations: Steve: Welcome and Agenda Andrea: Mission and Goals Summer: The “Charge Statement” from the Board and Basic Steps David: Transition: Past – Present – Future Elizabeth: Population, Number of Schools and Number of Students Displaced Steve: Interactive exercise: What facility makes a school efficient and successful? JGA: Unveiling – Colored handout and a look a the exterior on the screen David: Question and Answer time. Kathy Kelker offered to scribe what was heard from the public during the meeting. After a short discussion in regard to a date for the next meeting it was decided to have a short debriefing after the community meeting before planning another meeting.
