March 4, 2010

 

CALL TO ORDER

 

The Ad Hoc Committee for Superintendent Search of the Board of Trustees of School District No. 2, Yellowstone County, Montana, and High School District, Yellowstone County, Montana, was duly held at The Lincoln Center, 415 North 30th Street, Billings, Montana, March 4, 2010, at 12:00 p.m.

 

Members present included Trustees Mary Jo Fox, Teresa Stroebe, Joel Guthals, Barbara Bryan, and District Clerk Leo Hudetz.

 

The registered guest included Mary Lave.

 

COMMUNICATION FROM THE PUBLIC

 

The Board recognizes the value of public comment on educational issues and the importance of listening to members of the public in its meetings. The Board also recognizes the statutory and constitutional right of the public to participate in governmental operations. The Board encourages members of the public to participate in and express opinions about issues important to the District. This part of the Board’s meeting is dedicated to public comment on any public matter that is not on the agenda of this meeting and is within the jurisdiction of the Board of Trustees. Members of the public may also address particular items on this agenda either now or at the time the Board considers the particular item. There were no public comments.

 

Chair Guthals stated the purpose of the meeting is to receive comments on the candidates for Superintendent. The committee will report to the full Board on Monday, March 8th. Cole Pugh has removed his name as a candidate.

 

District Clerk Leo Hudetz reported comments have been received by email or other means to the Board and were given to those present. The comments are in an attachment to the minutes.

 

Chair Guthals reported a Board meeting will be held on Monday, March 8th at 5:30 p.m. The Board will rank the candidates and further discussion will take place on Tuesday, March 9th at 5:30 p.m. If a consensus is not reached next week, the discussion will continue, if necessary, at the regular meeting scheduled for March 15th. Mr. Guthals reported the Board must take its time and do it right. Site visitations may be needed to one or two of the candidates home districts.

 

As there was no further business, the meeting adjourned at 12:15 p.m.
