August 2, 2011

 

CALL TO ORDER

 

The Agenda Setting Meeting of the Board of Trustees of School District No. 2, Yellowstone County, Montana, and High School District, Yellowstone County, Montana, was duly held at The Lincoln Center, 415 North 30th Street, Billings, Montana, August 2, 2011 at 12:00 p.m.

 

Those present included Trustees Connie Wardell, Pam Ellis, District Clerk Leo Hudetz, Superintendent Keith Beeman, Josh Middleton, Patricia Hubbard, Kathy Olson, Brenda Koch, Gail Surwill, Scott Anderson, and Jeff Greenfield. Trustees Graves, Aragon, Smith, Kemp, Bryan, Stroebe, and Besch Moen were excused. Also in attendance was Pat Bellinghausen, Opinion Editor of the Billings Gazette.

 

The budget hearing is set for 5:30 on August 15th, prior to the regular meeting. Josh Middleton, Assistant Superintendent, stated the board may hold a budget hearing for the 2011/12 budget and the formal presentation be given at the regular meeting on August 15th with the decision at that time. The district has until August 25th to approve the final budget.

 

Recognition and gifts and donations were added to the agenda for August 15th. Item F, Request for Proposals, was deemed to be an informational item only. The Quality Schools Grant Application for matching funds is due August 19, 2011. The discussion on district property is an item to seek permission to speak to the citing regarding land and may include buying, selling or trading land. The business office is looking at all budgets and compiling the final 2010/11 report as required by the state.

 

Trustee Ellis requested moving the policy revisions to the consent agenda as they are for the second reading. Policy 3250 may be added if the policy is ready for the reading. An item was added to the agenda for a AA Caucus report from the Legislative Committee.

 

As there was no further business, the meeting adjourned at 12:25 p.m.
