Proceedings of the Board of Trustees District No. 2, Yellowstone County High School District No. 2, Yellowstone County Billings, Montana

December 5, 2011

CALL TO ORDER

The Legislative Sub-Committee Meeting of the Board of Trustees of School District No. 2, Yellowstone County, Montana, and High School District, Yellowstone County, Montana, was duly held at The Lincoln Center, 415 North 30th Street, Billings, Montana, December 5, 2011, at 12:00 p.m.

Members present included Trustees Connie Wardell, Teresa Stroebe, Greta Besch Moen, Pam Ellis and Superintendent Jack Copps.

Schools participating in this VisionNet meeting were Helena, Butte, Bozeman, Missoula, Kalispell, Great Falls, and the Montana School Board Association.

The bylaws have been revised and will be used by all of the caucuses. The rules will be revised for the AA schools. Dues will be a set number. If anyone has any questions on the bylaws, please send them to Bob Vogel as soon as possible. The bylaws will be adopted as soon as possible.

Bob Vogel, Montana School Board Association, stated visits will take place with the caucuses and the Interim Education Committee. The B & C caucuses will take place in March. The AA caucus needs to think about whether they want to do anything different. Mr. Vogel thought it was important to get two or three trustees and superintendents to attend the committee meeting to let them know what is going on. It would also serve to build a good relationship with the committee. The committee will look at K-12 performance based funding.

The first meeting for the Multi-Disciplinary Committee will take place on December 12th.

The remainder of the VisionNet was disrupted by a poor connection.

Trustee Moen made the following motion with a second by Trustee Stroebe:

Motion to approve the minutes of October 3, 2011 and November 7, 2011.

Those voting in favor were Connie Wardell, Greta Besch Moen, Pam Ellis and Teresa Stroebe. The motion passed unanimously.

Trustee Wardell stated she would obtain the additional information that was given during the remainder of the VisionNet meeting. The trustees discussed meeting with legislators Elsie Arntzen and Gary Branae separately to discuss the educational issues.

As there was no further business, the meeting adjourned at 1:03 p.m.

Connie Wardell, Chair

Diane Blevins, Recorder
