April 11, 2005

 

The April 11, 2005 Business Committee meeting was called to order at 5:30 p.m. by Chair Malcolm Goodrich. Members in attendance were Malcolm Goodrich, Bob Whalen, Jerry Hansen, Dale Getz, Joan Sleeth, Shanna Henry, Judy Herzog, and Peter Grass (came at 5:36 p.m.). Absent were Patty Lacy and Curt Prchal. Also in attendance were Business Manager Thomas Harper and District Clerk Leo Hudetz.

 

Chair Goodrich suggested the Committee defer discussion on the budget for approximately one week until the Legislature adjourns. At that time, a Business Committee meeting can be scheduled to review the budget for suggested cuts. The District did not request a mill levy vote.

 

Request for FTE Increase

 

Executive Director of Elementary Education, Kathy Olson, is requesting the addition of a special needs assistant for the DELTA Program at Poly Drive Elementary. The DELTA program serves severely emotionally disabled youngsters, and they added three K-2 students to that program in the last three weeks. The addition is to be funded from the special education general fund only through the rest of the current year.

 

Dale Getz introduced a motion to recommend Board approval to add a special needs assistant for the DELTA Program at Poly Drive Elementary for the rest of the current school year. Shanna Henry seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously.

 

Peter Grass joined the meeting at 5:36 p.m.

 

Minutes – March 14, 2005

 

Dale Getz introduced a motion to approve the Business Committee minutes of March 14, 2005. Jerry Hansen seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously.

 

Minutes – March 18, 2005

 

Joan Sleeth requested the minutes be changed to show that she and Curt Prchal and Patty Lacy were absent because of their school schedules.

 

Dale Getz introduced a motion to approve the Business Committee minutes of March 18, 2005 as amended. Jerry Hansen seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously.

 

Minutes – March 21, 2005

 

Dale Getz introduced a motion to approve the Business Committee minutes of March 21, 2005. Jerry Hansen seconded the motion. The motion carried unanimously.

 

Financial Reports – March, 2005 (Unaudited)

 

Financial Reports for March, 2005 (Unaudited) have been reviewed by Committee members.

 

Thomas reported Yellowstone County changed to a new computer system, and they are behind two months to enable us to reconcile cash. However, percentages of expenditures are right where we should be at this time of the year.

 

 

Budget Forecasts FY 2005-2006

 

Budget discussion will be deferred until after the Legislature adjourns. A Special Business Committee meeting may be called for next week to discuss the budget.
