Diane Blevins Posted September 16, 2005 Report Share Posted September 16, 2005 Proceedings of the Board of Trustees District No. 2, Yellowstone County High School District No. 2, Yellowstone County Billings, Montana September 12, 2005 Call to Order The Special Meeting of the Board of Trustees of School District No. 2, Yellowstone County, Montana, and High School District, Yellowstone County, Montana, was duly held at The Lincoln Center, 415 North 30th Street, Billings, Montana, September 12, at 5:15 p.m. Those present included: Sandra Mossman, Clerk Leo Hudetz, Joel Guthals, Katharin Kelker, Conrad Stroebe, Dale Getz, Malcolm Goodrich and Dawn Achten. Karen Moses arrived at 5:20. Mary Jo Fox and Superintendent Rod Svee were absent. MTSBA Representative Chair Kelker reported there was an agreement reached at the agenda setting meeting to send three Board members to the Montana School Board Association (MTSBA) delegate assembly. The delegates are Conrad Stroebe, Karen Moses and Sandra Mossman. Anyone else who would like to go should contact Nancy Coe. The assembly is on September 16 and 17. The Chair stated Mike Dimich is the District’s representative whose term will end in October. It is usually the Vice-Chair who serves in that capacity but Trustee Goodrich is unable to attend the meetings due to his work schedule as an attorney. Trustee Mossman has offered to take the position. Trustee Getz made the following motion with a second by Trustee Stroebe. Move that the Board appoint Sandra Mossman as the Board representative to the MTSBA board. Those voting in favor were Dawn Achten, Joel Guthals, Sandra Mossman, Katharin Kelker, Malcolm Goodrich, Dale Getz, and Conrad Stroebe. The motion passed unanimously. Trustee Mossman reported there is an event for the legislators on October 6th from 5:30-7:00 at the Depot. Monica Lindeen, Representative Glaser and Jack Copps will be in attendance. Mr. Glaser and Mr. Copps will serve as speakers. The basic thrust of the meeting is to support the basic funding package and try to generate support in Yellowstone County and the legislators from the county. Trustee Mossman will give the phone numbers of the legislators to the Board members and asked them to call the legislators. Chair Kelker requested an open forum that is moderated. She would serve as the moderator. Trustee Stroebe stated it would be helpful for Trustees Mossman and Moses to meet with him and other interested parties to discuss the Montana Quality Education Coalition (MQEC). Trustee Kelker suggested a study session be scheduled to discuss MQEC.
