Proceedings of the Board of Trustees

High School District No. 2, Yellowstone County

Billings, Montana

September 5, 2006

Call to Order

The Executive Committee Meeting of the Board of Trustees of School District No. 2, Yellowstone County, Montana, and High School District, Yellowstone County, Montana, was duly held at The Lincoln Center, 415 North 30th Street, Billings, Montana, September 5, 2006, at 11:00 a.m.

Those present included: Trustees Malcolm Goodrich, Sandra Mossman, Mary Jo Fox, and Superintendent Jack Copps.

Chair Goodrich wanted to make sure the chairs have the members for their committees. The BEA will furnish a list of potential members and has recommended Curt Prchal and Joan Sleeth for the Budgeting for Results Committee. A notice will be placed in the newspaper to seek committee members for the School/Community and Planning and Development Committees. The membership for Budgeting for Results is fairly set. Superintendent Copps will serve as the administrative liaison for the School/Community Committee.

Chair Goodrich stated the agenda for the regular meeting should allow time following that meeting to hold a continuation of the Board Retreat. The School/Community Committee will review the Communication Plan. Kathy Aragon will also give a presentation on safe routes to schools. The committee meetings may not begin until October when the membership lists are complete. The Board will ratify the committee members at the regular meeting in October.

Superintendent Copps reported the Planning and Development Committee would review the boundary issue. The Calendar Committee has been instructed to develop an alternative calendar for the 2007/2008 school year. A survey will go out to parents through the schools to gain input for the Board. Trustee Fox suggested a poll be conducted. Superintendent Copps will look into a possible poll.

It was discussed that the public relations person could report on the business of the District but could not promote the mill levy as she is paid in part by the District.

As there was no further business, the meeting adjourned at 11:55 p.m.

Malcolm Goodrich, Chair
