Call to Order

The Policy Review Committee met on Wednesday, August 9, 2006 at the Lincoln Center, 415 North 30th Street, Billings, Montana.

The meeting was chaired by Malcolm Goodrich and called to order at 12:00

Those present included: Trustees Katharin Kelker and Mary Jo Fox. Also in attendance were Leo Hudetz and Dan Martin.

The committee discussed the following items:

Approval of Minutes

The minutes from the June 6, 2006 meeting were approved as presented.

Policy 5007 – Drug Free Workplace

Dan Martin presented a draft of the proposed policy. Malcolm was concerned about the structure of the last sentence in policy 5007. He felt the policy needs to be expanded to include alcohol and controlled substances. Mary Jo Fox felt that the language in the last paragraph needs to be clarified to state that any confirmation of infractions can cause a disciplinary proceeding by the Superintendent. Kathy Kelker felt that prohibition of alcohol had to be included in the policy. Dan will make corrections and send them to Jeff Weldon in order to get them on the Board Agenda for 1st reading in August.

Discussion was held regarding DUI’s.

Dan suggested that when employees are hired we need to have them sign a form stating their acceptance of our policies. We do not have a district wide handbook – this might be something that is needed.

Meeting was adjourned at 12:30 p.m.

Next meeting will be held on November 7, 2006, at 1:30 p.m.
