WORK SESSION

JOINTLY WITH PLANNING COMMITTEE

AND SCHOOL/COMMUNITY COMMITTEE

Tuesday, October 12, 2004 5:30 p.m.

Lincoln Education Center Board Room 415 North 30th Street

5:30-5:40 Welcome and Introductions Kathy Kelker

5:40-5:45 Purpose of the Meeting

The purpose of this meeting is to bring together the school trustees and individuals who are currently working on plans to relieve overcrowding in our high schools and those who have served on previous high school planning committees. We will hear a status report from the 20-Year Planning Committee and an update on Daylis Stadium. Following these presentations, the larger group will divide into smaller discussion groups facilitated by school trustees to discuss ideas that still need to be considered as the 20-Year Planning Committee continues its work. At the close of the evening, the larger group will assemble to compile a list of topics or questions for further research and discussion.

The charge to the Committee is to look at the long-range needs of the district for refurbishing existing facilities, utilization of existing facilities (including those that may be currently closed), and locations for new facilities as additional capacity is needed. The Committee can take as long as one year to complete its study with a full report to the Board expected in April 2005. The Committee is currently working on recommendations to alleviate high school overcrowding.
