Proceedings of the 403 (b) Ad Hoc Committee

January 9, 2008

 

Call to Order

 

The 403 (b) Ad Hoc Committee Meeting was held at the Lincoln Center on Wednesday, January 9, 2008, at 12:00. Committee members present were:

Leo Hudetz, Thomas Harper, Dan Martin and Jeff Greenfield. Dennis Lusin, Financial Consultant with D.A. Davidson and Company, was excused from the meeting.

 

Overview of 403 (b)

 

Leo presented overview:

• IRS Regulations states plan document must be developed by January 1, 2009. Every school district must comply.

• Leo distributed an I.R.S. sample document and suggested committee review it before the next meeting

• Need to discuss between TPA (3rd party administration) or selecting one company as 403 (b) representative

• Jeff and Dan voiced concerns about employees not having options. Dan feels up to six vendors may be needed. Jeff stated it could be a change in working conditions if there are not enough options.

 

It was agreed education to all employees is needed. Leo is to draft letter to all employees explaining reason for upcoming changes, IRS regulation, and a projected timeline. Jeff will discuss letter in union newsletters.

 

Leo distributed tentative schedule of tasks.

 

Adjournment

 

The meeting was adjourned at 1:10 p.m. The next meeting is scheduled at 10:00, January 23, 2008, in Room 216.
